Ilya is the sort of person who is easy to get along with and hard to dislike — pleasant, considerate, charming, easy-going, and generally quite lovely to be around. He's quick to laugh and difficult to provoke. Despite his considerable charm and talent, he is quite modest and tends to politely brush off praise and insult alike, but shows no doubt at all in his own abilities. Beneath his pleasant demeanor and mild manners, he is quite sharp and uncannily observant. He clearly doesn't think he has anything to prove to the world.

None of that is a facade — although it isn't the complete picture, either. Ilya is a natural-born liar, cool-headed and quick-thinking even under extreme stress, and he does admittedly leverage his likability quite skillfully to manipulate those around him. He is extremely good at unraveling metaphorical knots, from quietly rooting out Imperial moles to apprehending local thieves, and at knowing just which strand to pull — and when to simply cut the knot in two. His career as an Imperial agent was filled with commendations for his efficiency and efficacy.

Although he is more than willing to use violence to achieve his ends, he avoids inflicting harm except where necessary. Pointless cruelty, alongside egotism and tempermentality, is one of the few things he deeply dislikes. But he doesn't feel terribly badly about the very long list of people he's hurt, either, unless he had a personal relationship with them.

appearance
Ilya has brown skin, sleepy copper-colored eyes, and an easy grin. His hair and ears are white-blonde, tipped with cool brown, and are matched by surprisingly thick body hair across his chest, abdomen, and limbs. He has a handsome face that is marred by a number of long scars, which look to be no more than a few years old.

Like many of the Viera who hail from northern Ilsabard, Ilya sports a set of elk-like antlers that grow in and shed periodically. He is around 6'1, although his ears and antlers sometimes make him seem taller, and has an athletic physique. Despite possessing a physical presence that might be imposing to some, he holds himself non-threateningly, with easy movements and a relaxed posture.
